Xemplar appoints Uranium Exploration Team

Vancouver, January 16, 2007 - Xemplar Energy Corp. (TSXV: XE) ("Xemplar" or the "Company") wishes to announce the appointment of its exploration team to oversee the Company's uranium projects in Namibia. In 2006, the Company was awarded six (6) 6 Exclusive Prospecting Licences (EPL's) and two (2) Exclusive Reconnaissance Licences (ERL's), covering various uranium occurrences and uranium mineralization types, including Rossing, Langer Heinrich and sandstone-conglomerate roll-front type deposits. Xemplar has opened new offices in Namibia's capital Windhoek.

Xemplar is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Andreas Palfi as Exploration Manager for Namibia. Mr. Palfi, a Namibian citizen, has lived and worked in Namibia for over 30-years. His previous experience includes being part of the team that brought the Otjihase copper project to a mining stage. Mr. Palfi has worked for the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy in the Mineral Economics Directorate as Chief Geologist. Mr. Palfi was the Namibian representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency and was responsible for the original compilation of the Uranium Resources of Namibia. His experience also includes a number of years with Goldfields of South Africa and with Johannesburg Consolidated Investments. Xemplar is very pleased to have Mr. Palfi head up their exploration efforts in Namibia.

Mr. Charles Johnston has been appointed as Project Geologist for the Engo Valley Uranium Project. Mr. Johnston worked as Project Geologist on the Engo Valley project for General Mining between 1977 and 1978, and was responsible for the drilling program carried out at that time. Mr. Johnston also worked at Langer Heinrich (currently held by Paladin Resources TSX: PDN) and at Klein Spitzkop adjacent to Uramin's (AIM: UMN) Trekkopje Project. Mr. Johnston has over 34-years experience working in Namibia and South Africa as an exploration geologist.

For the Warmbad Uranium Project, Xemplar has appointed Mr. Ralf Wartha as Project Geologist. Mr. Wartha spent most of last year working as a site geologist for Forsys Metals (TSX: FSY) on their Valencia Uranium Project in Namibia. Mr. Wartha has over 30-years experience as an exploration geologist. His experience at Valencia will be invaluable to Xemplar given the numerous geological similarities between Valencia and the alaskites in the Warmbad area. Phase I exploration at Warmbad will commence during the first quarter of 2007, with channel sampling of the mineralized alaskites prior to drilling.

The Project Geologist for both the Cape Cross and Aus Uranium Projects is Mr. Eric Hanson. Mr. Hanson has over 12-years experience in mineral exploration and mining on four continents, most recently uranium exploration in Argentina. He is currently registered in the Province of Manitoba as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo).

Xemplar has also retained Namib-Hydrosearch as geological consultants. Namib-Hydrosearch has worked on many uranium projects in Namibia and will be responsible for the Alphatrack radon surveys at Xemplar's Cape Cross and Aus projects. Radon surveys focusing on locating mineralized palaeochannels within the project areas, will be followed by percussion drilling and radiometric borehole logging.

Xemplar is very pleased with the exploration team it has put together. This will enable Xemplar to commence work in all four of its Namibian uranium project areas.
