Exploration Team
Charles Johnston – Exploration Manager
Mr. Johnston worked on the Engo Valley project for General Mining between 1977 and 1978 as the project geologist and was responsible for the drilling program carried out at that time. Mr. Johnston has also worked at Langer Heinrich, located in the Namibian uranium corridor which has recently been put into production by Paladin Energy, and at Klein Spitzkop, which is adjacent to Areva’s Trekkopje uranium deposit. He has over 35 years experience working in Namibia and South Africa as an exploration geologist. Coupled with his knowledge of all of Xemplar Energy’s properties in Namibia, Mr. Johnston is an invaluable exploration leader for Xemplar Energy.
Piet Knoetze – Project Manager
Mr. Knoetze is a geochemist with over 30 years of experience, having spent his career in South Africa, Ghana and Democratic Republic of Congo. His past experience includes managing exploration projects of significant scale and the management of underground and opencast mines. Mr. Knoetze has held senior project management and development positions with Goldfields Ltd., Normandy Ghana Gold, Newmont Ghana Gold, Bonsu Gold Holdings/Gencor, Impala Platinum Mine and Foskor. He has been instrumental in managing the Warmbad Project and leading Xemplar Energy through its transition from a company with prospective properties to a highly-focused exploration company. Mr. Knoetz has played a significant role, along with Mr. Johnston in the identification of eight zones of mineralized continuity at the Company’s Warmbad Project.
Mike Magrum, P.Eng. –Chief Operating Officer and Director
Mr. Magrum is Xemplar Energy’s qualified Professional Engineer under the National Instrument 43-101, who is responsible for overseeing technical management of all of Xemplar’s uranium properties. Mr. Magrum is a Geological Engineer who has been working in uranium exploration since 1974. He, along with Piet Knoetz and Charles Johnston are responsible for the design and implementation of Xemplar Energy’s drill programs.
