Xemplar's Namibian Uranium Properties awarded Exclusive Prospecting Licenses
Xemplar Energy Corp. ("the Company") is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Namura Mineral Resources (Pty) Ltd. ("Namura") has been granted six exclusive prospecting licenses (EPL) namely No. 3567, 3568, 3569, 3570, 3571, 3572 covering uranium exploration properties in Namibia. These EPLs cover various uranium occurrences and uranium mineralization types, which include Rossing, Langer Heinrich and sandstone-conglomerate hosted epigenetic/diagenetic-type deposits.
Warmbad Uranium Project - EPL 3567, 3568
The Warmbad Uranium Project, defined by EPL 3567, 3368, totaling about 174,000 hectares in size is located along the north side of the Orange River. The Company has carried out a comprehensive review of all previous exploration and evaluation work carried out within the area. This review clearly shows that areas of anomalous uranium mineralization occur at many localities throughout the Warmbad license area. The form of the mineralization is best described as uraniferous alaskitic pegmatites. These alaskitic pegmatites have a strong resemblance to the uraniferous alaskitic pegmatites found at the Rossing uranium mine located in the central part of Namibia. Uranium production at the Rossing mine surpassed 3,500 tonnes in 2004. The Company believes that this area has a high potential to host an economic uranium ore body very similar to that found at Rossing.
Cape Cross Uranium Project - EPL 3569, 3570 and 3571
The Cape Cross Uranium Project is covered by EPL 3569, 3570 and 3571. Each of these new EPL's is approximately 100,000 hectares in size. The Company has reviewed the historical exploration work carried out by General Mining and Finance Corporation, Goldfields of South Africa, Falconbridge, Rand Mines and Mynboukorporasie. The exploration target is a mineralized palaeochannel containing uranium in the form of carnotite. The mineralization model would best be described as Langer Heinrich type deposit. Langer Heinrich is currently being developed by Paladin Resources of Australia. Another similar occurrence is the uranium deposit at Trekkopje currently being developed by Uramin Inc. (AIM listed public company).
Aus Uranium Project - EPL 3572
The Aus Uranium Project is located around the small town of Aus approximately 100 kilometres east of Luderitz. The area defined by EPL 3572 covers approximately 100,000 hectares in size. It is a relatively unexplored area. The Company has reviewed and assessed all previous exploration work carried out within the area. This work included a review of the historical exploration work carried out by Anglo American Corporation. During the period 1976 to 1981 Anglo American Corporation made a number of uranium discoveries in the general area. Prospecting in this area was directed at secondary uranium mineralization (generally carnotite) associated with calcrete palaeochannels. It has the potential to host a Langer Heinrich type deposit. Langer Heinrich is currently being developed by Paladin Resources of Australia.
With these EPLs, the Company can now start exploration programs including detailed airborne and ground radiometrics, ground radon surveys, percussion drilling, radiometric borehole logging and sampling on the area.
