Aus - Garub

AUS - GARUB PROJECT (EPL 3572 – Aus; EPL 3758 and EPL 3759 – Garub)

  • These early stage exploration properties are located near the town of Aus, some 100 kilometres east of port city of Luderitz. These properties are found in a relatively unexplored area which has the potential to host a Langer Heinrich type deposit.
  • EPL 3572 (Aus) which covers an area of 998 km² was granted in January 2008, while the EPLs 3758 and 3759 (Garub) covers an area of 1,897 km² was granted in August 2008, giving Xemplar Energy with a total land package of 2,882 km² in the area.
  • The area has extensive calcrete deposits. The intrusive granites of the Tumuab unit, the Kubub granite gneiss and the Aus granite gneiss are potential sources of uranium. It is proposed that uranium weathered from these granites has been deposited in the calcretes as carnotite.
  • The area is located within the Koichab depression and is characterized by a flat, shallowly dissected westward draining recent drainage system. Calcrete palaeochannels are known to exist in the area. The area is surrounded by radioactive granites of the Sinclair formation. Intrusive granites of the Tumuab unit, the Kubub granite gneiss and the Aus granite gneiss are also present.
  • The exploration target is a mineralized palaeochannel containing uranium mineralization in the form of carnotite. The mineralization model would best be described as Langer Heinrich (Paladin Resources) type deposit.
  • The uranium anomalies found in the area look promising, as they are not associated with thorium. This would be expected over calcrete terraces containing carnotite mineralization. Uranium anomalies in the Koichab River at the foot of the dune field are also of interest.
  • Recommendation was made to Xemplar Energy by independent geologists that all of the surficial areas be explored using radon detectors to detect possible mineralization at depth with these detectors being deployed on a regional basis, which since has been completed on the Aus property and is currently being conducted at Garub.

WORK COMPLETED AT AUS-GARUB

  • Detailed interpretation of all historical data has been completed.
  • Large scale radon survey over Aus property utilizing radon detectors has been completed.
  • Radon gas survey is currently being conducted on the Garub property.

EXPLORATION PLANS FOR 2009

  • Conduct ground exploration and sampling.
  • Conduct geological and structural mapping.
  • Identify drill hole targets.
  • Consider all strategic options for the development of Aus - Garub properties.
