The Environment

Uranium is the most cost effective and environmental friendly alternative
for electricity generating as a substitute for traditional fossil fuels

“Nuclear power, designed well, regulated properly, cared for meticulously, has a place in the world’s energy supply.” – Al Gore (quoted from Power to Save the World, author: G. Cravens)

“Patrick Moore, a founder of Greenpeace; Hugh Montefiore, a former board chairman of Friends of Earth; James Lovelock, author of The Ages of Gaia; and Stewart Brand, of Whole Earth Catalogue fame, began to echo the observations of Gore.” – G. Cravens.

The Kyoto Protocol, along with growing public concern over global warming has paved the way for a nuclear renaissance. Public policies are moving towards greater use of nuclear fuelled power plants as power utilities and governments strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of CO2 from fossil fuel power stations.

Industrial development has had a profound effect of the emissions of greenhouse gases.
NO2 tropospheric columns have increased dramatically since 2004, as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases.

France, dependent on nuclear energy to generate 78% of its electricity, has the lowest carbon footprint in the Western world and is the model for safe and reliable source of electricity that has the lowest impact on the environment.

European Union has made the decision to cut emissions of greenhouse gas by at least 20% from 1990 levels by 2020 in an attempt to prevent irreversible and possibly catastrophic climate change. In his State of the Union address in January 2007, President Bush said that the US should cut its dependence on foreign oil and diversify its energy supply, including safe nuclear power. A growing number of countries, including Russia, China and India, is supporting nuclear power as means of moving away from fossil fuels.

China has plans to build 40 nuclear reactors within the next 15 years to increase the proportion of its electricity generated by nuclear power from the current 2.4% to 4%.

It is clear that nuclear energy is the best solution to the global environmental concerns, which has contributed to the nuclear renaissance, driving the demand for uranium.
